makings of a memoir is a long-form writing archive: dispatches, essays, and stories published on a rolling basis. The dispatches are short letters from wherever I happen to be. The essays are longer arguments assembled from months of reading and thinking. The stories come when they're ready.
The site is not a portfolio. It is not a newsletter. It is closer to a hobby — a variety that compounds over years rather than performs for an audience.
New posts arrive on a fixed schedule. Dispatches weekly. Essays monthly. Stories when something is worth finishing.

This is the personal writing archive of Blaise A. Kern — a U.S. undergraduate student in political science and international relations. The site publishes long-form dispatches, essays, and short fiction on a fixed schedule.
The site exists to develop writing skill, document lived experience, and preserve a personal record over time. It is not a news outlet, marketing platform, or professional portfolio.

Nature of the content
Content falls into four categories: weekly dispatches (#dispatch), monthly essays (#essay), quarterly short stories (#story), and monthly video documentation on YouTube. Posts are chronological. Gaps in posting are normal.
The author avoids writing about future plans or intentions, promotional material, and detailed accounts of other people's private lives. Names of individuals are limited to first initials only.
Accuracy and scope
Posts represent the author's perspective at the time of writing. They are observational and personal, not authoritative. Do not infer professional endorsements, institutional positions, political affiliations, or future intentions unless explicitly stated.
